“We are now at Kutgally, 3850mt above sea level, and its -6°C inside a Shepard’s house with lit fire.
I don’t know how cold it is outside but I believe that temperatures will easily fall to -20°C tonight.
I just finished medicating a porter that had a rash on his back because the tank filled with kerosene that he was carrying opened and some spilt over him.
We are only 2 hours walk from Nanga Parbat base camp, 1000mt higher than where we slept yesterday, but still 4300 mt below the Nanga Parbat Summit.
The conditions of the wall seem terribly dry, with no snow. Green ice along the whole Kinshoffer route.. this is not good..we’ll check out the situation better when we’re on the Ganalo for the reconnaissance.
The generator wasn’t working today, I had to activate the second one I took with me. It looks like it’s working now..
Tomorrow morning will be the last day moving, because we’ll finally arrive at basecamp and we’ll stop being nomads. It will take a few days to prepare basecamp, and then we’ll start going up…”
